I'm Shane, founder of Way + Word.

I spent years running a marketing consultancy, working in strategy, user experience, and communications before turning toward theological education.

I'm currently a seminarian at the University of the South, combining that professional background with formation in Episcopal liturgy and theology.

I came to the Episcopal Church as an adult from a very different religious background. The welcome was genuine, the theological depth real, but much of that richness only became visible after I crossed the threshold.

Way + Word exists to help churches make what they already offer accessible to people still standing outside.

Episcopal churches offer thoughtful tradition, liturgical beauty, and substantive community. The challenge isn't generating those things, it's communicating them to people who don't yet know what they're looking for.

I work with clergy and vestries to strengthen how churches extend their witness: developing evangelism strategies grounded in theology and context, building communication systems that endure, examining how belonging and participation actually unfold in parish life.

The goal is clarity and capacity that lasts.

Your digital presence is not branding. It is a ministry that is an extension of the Church's call to proclaim Good News and welcome the stranger. I approach this work as both pastoral responsibility and practical discipline, helping churches communicate clearly and create conditions for genuine encounter.
